Introduction:

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus in an electrical industry environment. This does not include overhead lines and underground cables. It includes the organisational workplace requirements for the inspection and use of live LV panel rescue equipment.

Please note:

This course completely covers the HLTAID009 Provide CPR components. If you are going to enrol in this course you do NOT need to enrol in Provide CPR separately. 

Target Audience:

Electricity supply industry (ESI) workers and/or electrical industry workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements.

Content:

  • 1.1 Workplace requirements for the rescue are identified and confirmed
  • 1.2 Electricity isolation point is identified
  • 1.3 Rescue equipment including personal protective equipment (PPE) is obtained and inspected in accordance with workplace requirements
  • 2.1 Situation is assessed, and rescue response is activated in accordance with workplace requirements
  • 2.2 Casualty is removed from the live LV panel in accordance with workplace requirements
  • 3.1 Casualty is assessed in accordance with workplace requirements
  • 3.1 Casualty is assessed in accordance with workplace requirements
  • 3.3 Incident is reported in accordance with workplace requirements Foundation skills
